Two killed after train strikes vehicle in Lancaster

Two people were killed Friday morning from a collision involving a train and a vehicle in Lancaster, fire officials said.

Around 5 a.m., personnel with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the area near the north Sierra Highway and W Avenue L. after reports of a train striking a vehicle.

Firefighters tried to free the individuals from the vehicle but they both died at the scene. No injuries on the train were reported.

It was unclear what caused the crash.

The names of the deceased have not been released.
