LOS ANGELES (FOX 11) - Alex Band, the singer behind the mega hit "Wherever You Will Go," stopped by Good Day LA to talk about a fundraising event at Whiskey A Go Go to benefit the survivors of the Orlando shooting.
Band was the lead singer for the band The Calling, and said the 2001 song was inspired by a family member who passed away.
"I had this idea in my little teenage brain if he could say something to her in the after life that would comfort her," he explained.
The song topped the Adult Top 40 for 23 weeks, the second longest running number one in the chart's history,a and was named the number 1 song of the decade on the Adult Pop Charts by Billboard magazine.
