Preliminary 3.2 earthquake strikes near Idyllwild area

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.2 struck near Idyllwild Tuesday evening.

No damage or injuries were reported. 

The quake was reported around 5:24 p.m. and was about four miles from the Idyllwild area, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There were no immediate reports of damage. While there are many variables involved, geologists say damage does not usually occur until the earthquake magnitude reaches somewhere above 4 or 5.
