Police searching for hit-and-run driver who killed 11-year-old pedestrian in Highland

Highland Police are asking for the public's help identifying the hit-and-run driver accused of fatally striking an 11-year-old girl on Monday night.

The crash was reported around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Church Street and Glenheather Drive. Police said that a dark-colored SUV was traveling south on Church Street when it collided with the pedestrian.

The unidentified driver left the scene without providing any aid to the young girl, who was discovered by deputies unresponsive on the side of the roadway.

The girl, whose name has not been released, was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
