Police in La Habra locate missing elderly man who suffers from dementia

UPDATE: Jose Guadalupe Sandoval, 89, was located safely on Thursday evening. According to police, an alert citizen spotted him near the railroad tracks between Beach Avenue and Idaho Street, about two miles from his home.

That person called police and the senior was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

ORIGINAL STORY: Authorities Thursday in La Habra were searching for a missing elderly man, who suffers from dementia.

Just before noon on Wednesday, the La Habra Police Department received a report that 89-year-old Jose Guadalupe Sandoval was missing.

Police said Sandoval goes by the name of "Guadalupe" and suffers from dementia.

He is 5-foot-4-inches tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds, with short gray hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at his home located in the 500 block of VV. Highlander Ave.

Sandoval struggles to walk and needs a walker to help him get around, police said. His walker was discovered inside his home, but Sandoval was nowhere to be found.
