4 hospitalized, 22-year-old arrested after police chase ends on UCLA campus

Four people were hospitalized after a police chase came to an end on the UCLA campus on Thursday night, officials said.

SkyFOX flew over the crash scene in Westwood, where a sedan appeared to have run over a sign and hit a tree.

UCLA PD said officers saw a vehicle driving recklessly at the intersection of Le Conte and Tiverton avenues. When they attempted to pull the driver over, the suspect failed to yield and a brief pursuit ensued.

The chase came to an end on the Westwood Plaza where the vehicle crashed into the security bollards on Bruin Walk. The driver, along with three passengers, were taken to Ronald Reagan Medical Center to treat the injuries they sustained in the crash.

UCLA PD said no one affiliated with the college was involved with in the crash and no other injuries were reported.

The driver was identified by UCLA PD on Friday as 22-year-old Andrew Rivas. He was taken into custody at the hospital and was booked for reckless driving and evading an officer.

Two of the four people hurt in the crash were hospitalized.
