Man Shares Chilling Story About Suicide Attempt Off the Golden Gate Bridge

A man who survived a suicide attempt off the Golden Gate Bridge is sharing his inspiring story as part of BuzzFeed's Mental Health Week.

"The millisecond my hands left the rail, it was an instant regret," Kevin Hines says.

The then 19-year-old man fell 25 stories, at 75 miles per hour; and is now part of the less than one-percent of people who lived to tell the story. In an emotional interview with BuzzFeed, Hines talks about his struggle with mental illness, suicidal thoughts and regret.

Today, Hines is a mental health advocate, global speaker and an author.
