Man threatens 2 with pickaxe after crash

A man is accused of threatening to people with a pickaxe after he crashed his car into a home in Lake Forest. The man was arrested and taken to a hospital.

A man crashed a car into a house in Lake Forest Monday and then allegedly threatened two people with a pickaxe before sheriff's deputies subdued him, authorities said.

Orange County sheriff's deputies were dispatched at 11:54 a.m. to the 2200 block of Robin Street after a gray Kia sedan slammed into a house, Orange County sheriff's Sgt. Michael Woodroof said.

The driver, identified as Tyler Scott Graves, 32, of Trabuco Canyon, ran from the collision scene to the 22000 block of Pheasant Street where he got a pickaxe and began chasing two men.

Deputies found the man inside a home on Pheasant Street holding the pickaxe. He was told to drop the weapon but refused, resulting in deputies to deploy less-lethal shotgun "bean bag" rounds and a taser. Graves was taken to a local hospital then booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, exhibiting a deadly weapon (non-firearm) and resisting, obstructing, delaying a peace officer.
