Local firefighter helps wife deliver baby on side of 405 freeway

One local firefighter's skills and training were put to the test this week when his own wife went into labor on the 405 Freeway.

Matt and his wife Jackie were on their way to the hospital… but baby Camryn couldn’t wait anymore.

The couple decided to pull over on the side of the 405 and give birth. With help from dispatchers on the phone Matt successfully delivered his daughter in the bag of their car.

Shortly after Camryn made her debut into the world, engine 36 from the OC Fire Authority arrived to make sure everyone was ok. The fire authority transported them to the hospital where baby Camryn weighed in at 6 pounds and 8 ounces.

Matt use to work for the OC Fire Authority but is currently an LA County firefighter.
