Kevin Spacey honors his former Chatsworth High School drama teacher

(FOX 11) - Kevin Spacey honored his former drama teacher Sunday at Chatsworth High School, an early mentor who helped launch the actor toward his two-time Academy Award career.

Robert Carrelli was inducted into the Walk of Hearts, a distinguished award given to teachers in recognition of their dedication and the impact they have on a student's life.

"Mentors, parents, friends, teachers can sometimes say just the right words at just the right time, and it can be life-changing for a young person," the actor told the crowd. "So we should honor teachers always."

Spacey added that his former teacher left a lasting impression on him into his adult life.

"The way that Mr. Carrelli taught means that he will always be a teacher, my teacher, and I will always be a student and his student."
