Hours left to claim $63M SuperLotto prize sold in Chatsworth

CHATSWORTH (CNS / FOX 11) - Do you have an old lottery ticket sitting around? You might want to check it.

State lottery officials said Tuesday a SuperLotto Plus ticket purchased in Chatsworth for the Aug. 8, 2015, drawing has all of the winning numbers but hasn't been turned in -- meaning the ticket holder is about to lose out on a $63 million jackpot.

The deadline to claim the jackpot is Thursday.

California Lottery officials said if the winner does not come forward, the $63 million prize will be the largest jackpot ever forfeited. The largest jackpot that has ever gone unclaimed was $28.5 million for a SuperLotto Plus ticket sold in Alameda County in 2003.

If the jackpot goes unclaimed, the money will be directed toward state schools, lottery officials said.

The winning ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven store at 20871 Lassen St. in Chatsworth. It has the winning numbers 46, 1, 33, 30, 16 and Mega number 24.

If the winner takes a lump sum payment, he or she would receive $39.9 million before taxes.
