Gas leak in Sunland neighborhood prompts evacuations
LOS ANGELES - A natural gas leak in the Sunland area of Los Angeles Friday evening prompted evacuations and street closures.
A SoCalGas crew inspected a pipe in the 10300 block of W. Farmington Avenue. The street was closed off to allow crews to work on repairing the leak, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The leak was reported at about 6:40 p.m. The occupants of two homes were evacuated. LAFD says there was no fire problem and no need for further evacuations.
By 9 p.m., all displaced residents were allowed to return back to their homes.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the leak is under investigation.
