Fort Worth man falls into hole walking to buy lottery ticket

A Fort Worth man was rescued by police after he fell into a hole while walking to buy a lottery ticket.

Police got a call on Monday night for a missing 67-year-old man. His family told police he left while it was still daylight to buy a lottery ticket at a nearby neighborhood store.

Police began their search and one officer noticed a large, open construction hole and approached the opening. The officer saw the elderly man lying in cold water at the bottom of the 7-foot-deep hole.

The officer jumped into the hole to help the man and called for assistance to help get him out and checked out.

Fort Worth police declined to give the man's current condition but indicated there were no serious injuries from the fall.
