Former Marine dedicated to helping homeless veterans

Former Marine Justin Hairston found himself homeless after serving two combat tours. Now he is on a mission to help homeless veterans.

"I was living in my car, a lot of people didn't know, I would use the shower at the gym," said Hairston.

Hairston says he suffers from P.T.S.D. and turned to drugs to deal with the pain.

"I have the blood of men, women and children on my hands and that bothers me to a degree that is hard to express," said Hairston.

Hairston says his fiancée Brenda Van introduced him to a church that turned his life around.

"He has his dream about cleaning up the streets and getting all the vets off the street -- and I am like you can't do that all by yourself," said Van.

Hairston now had a new mission. While working at the LAKO Boxing Studio in Eagle Rock he started hosting fundraisers to help veteran’s organizations.

"We are sitting in ground zero of homelessness - and I can help - I have resources to do something so I am going to do it," said Hairston.

Once a week Hairston and Van offer ministry, food, clothing and haircuts to veterans living on skid row.
