LA crews take down Stone Fire near Hansen Dam

A fire briefly broke out in the Sylmar area on Tuesday.

SkyFOX was over the scene of the "Stone Fire" near the Hansen Dam and the 210 Freeway a little after 5 p.m. on January 14.

Crews at the scene were able to stop the fire from spreading onto nearby buildings within minutes. The fire ended up shutting down Foothill Boulevard in both directions near Kagel Canyon Street. 

Officials did not say when the roads would reopen.

The new fire comes about a week after the Hurst Fire broke out in Sylmar. The Jan. 7 fire ended up burning nearly 800 acres, but is on the verge of reaching 100% containment at any moment as of January 14.

Officials did not say what caused the new Sylmar fire to break out.
