Deputy, 2 others injured in violent crash in Bellflower area

A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy and two other people were injured and taken to the hospital after a violent collision in the Bellflower area Tuesday night.

The 3-car collision happened shortly after 9 p.m. in the area of Downey Avenue and Ramona Street. The deputy appears to have suffered minor injuries but two other people were taken to the hospital with traumatic injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Downey Avenue is closed between Artesia Boulevard and 64th Street due to the investigation.

Fire officials say the deputy was responding to an emergency call when the crash occurred.
