Charo's husband Kjell Rasten dead from apparent suicide at 79

Spanish-American singer Charo's husband, Kjell Rasten, was found dead Monday from an apparent suicide, multiple reports said. He was 79.

Rasten, who was married to the singer for 40 years, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the couple's Beverly Hills house about 2 p.m. Monday, TMZ reported, citing law enforcement sources.

Paramedics arrived at the home after someone called 911 and took Rasten to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the gossip site.

The Blast reported that Charo, 68, was home at the time of the incident and rode the ambulance with Rasten to the hospital.

Charo's representative told Entertainment Tonight that the singer did not have a comment and asked to respect the family's privacy.

Fox News' request for statements from the Beverly Hills Police Department and Charo's representative were not immediately returned.
