Cat shot in head; perpetrator unknown

A heinous crime is being investigated by Animal Control officers in Floyd County. Authorities said they received a 911 call about a cat being shot in the head with a crossbow bolt.

Officers met workers at the Culbreath Carr Watson Veterinary Clinic on Saturday in Rome, Ga. Officials believe the cat was shot at close range with a crossbow pistol. Initially, officials believed the cat was struck with an arrow, but was later determined to be a bolt.

The cat was recovering Monday. They have named the cat Floyd Mayweather. His story was posted to Floyd Felines Facebook and his story has since gone viral, reaching more than a 100,000 people. The group is hoping the publicity will call attention to the need to find the person responsible for the shooting.
