Body found in burned car at South LA tow yard

LAPD investigators say a body was found in an abandoned and burned vehicle in South LA.

A death investigation is underway in South Los Angeles after a body was found inside a car's trunk.

Authorities responded to a South Los Angeles tow yard in the 1900 block of Gave Avenue on Tuesday, September 9. The body was found inside a 2007 Honda registered to Soledad Lopez.

Investigators said it appears the car is tied to a missing persons investigation and was found burned and abandoned a few days ago in South Central LA. According to LAPD, the trunk of the car sustained fire damage.

Officials did not say if a suspect or a person of interest had been identified in the person's death. The victim in the car has also yet to be identified.

Tuesday's revelation comes a day after police were investigating a separate case of a body found inside a car trunk. Monday's investigation took place at a tow yard in Hollywood.
