4 LAPD officers, 2 suspects injured following pursuit crash in Pacoima

Four Los Angeles Police Department officers and two women, who were suspected robbers, were injured in a pursuit crash involving a stolen vehicle in Pacoima early Monday morning, police said.

The pursuit started at 4:30 a.m. at Foothill Boulevard and Wentworth Street when officers began pursuing three robbery suspects. Minutes later, the suspect's vehicle rear-ended an LAPD cruiser, caught fire and overturned on the Glenoaks Boulevard on-ramp to the westbound 118 Freeway, police said.

Officers temporarily prompted evacuations and the public was asked to avoid the area.

The officers were taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries, police said.

The two female suspects, who were occupants in a white Mercedes-Benz SUV, were taken into custody. One of the robbery suspects was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center and the other was transported to Olive View-UCLA Medical Center. Both will be arrested on suspicion of evading police officers and potential pending charges.

The suspect's vehicle was reported missing and was stolen in a carjacking, LAPD said.

No further information was immediately available.
