2 people trapped in Lakewood drainage canal, rescue underway

LAKEWOOD, Calif. - Los Angeles County Fire crews are working to remove two people trapped in a drainage canal in Lakewood.
Emergency crews are near the intersection of Clark Avenue and E. Del Amo Boulevard where the fire department says one person is in the water while a second is underground and out of the water.
An L.A. County Sheriff's helicopter is also on scene assisting with the rescue.
No further details were immediately known.
The rescue comes as a heavy downpour blankets L.A. County Thursday.
