2 killed, 5 injured in multi-vehicle crash on 71 freeway in Chino Hills

Two people were killed and five others were injuerd in a multi-vehicle crash in Chino Hills Wednesday morning, California Highway Patrol confirmed.

All southbound lanes on the 71 Freeway in Chino Hills were blocked due to the collision. They have since re-opened.

The crash was reported around 8:45 a.m. near Butterfield Ranch Road, according to Caltrans District 8. The crash involved at least four passenger vehicles and a box truck, according to the Chino Valley Fire Department.

Traffic was being diverted from the 71 onto Pine Avenue. Motorists were asked to seek alternate routes.

Authorities have not stated what caused the collision. The identifies of the victims were not immediately known.
