Woman, dog killed in 405 crash
A woman and dog are dead, and three other people were hospitalized after a crash on the 405 Freeway near Westwood.
LOS ANGELES - A woman and a dog were killed in a crash on the 405 Freeway on Friday night, and three other people were hospitalized.
What we know:
The crash was reported around 7:15 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway near Wilshire Boulevard.
Two cars were involved in the crash — an SUV and a four-door sedan. Images from SkyFOX showed the cars heavily damaged against a concrete barrier.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that at least one person was trapped in one of the cars. A 72-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other people were hospitalized. An 80-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man were in critical condition. A 60-year-old woman was in fair condition.

In addition to the people injured in the crash, one dog was also killed, the LAFD reported. A second dog was reported missing on the northbound 405 Freeway.
What we don't know:
None of the victims in the crash have been identified.
The cause of the crash also remains unclear.

Three lanes of the 405 Freeway were closed while officials investigated the crash. Images from SkyFOX showed massive backup on the 405 for miles.
