Singer Peabo Bryson hospitalized after heart attack

Singer and Atlanta resident Peabo Bryson is recovering in the hospital after suffering a heart attack over the weekend.

A representative for the singer told FOX 5 he suffered a "mild heart attack" at his home early Saturday morning.

The representative said Bryson is in stable condition and is awake and responsive.

"Both his medical team and family are optimistic for a speedy recovery," the representative said.

Bryson won Grammys and Oscars for his performances of the songs "Beauty and the Beast" with Celine Dion" in 1992 and "A Whole New World" with Regina Belle in 1993.

The representative requested privacy for the pop star but said thoughts and prayers were "welcomed and appreciated."
