Phone purchase ends in shooting at Vons parking lot in Los Angeles

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred just before 9 p.m. Friday at a Vons parking lot in the 1400 block of S. Fairfax Avenue.

Police say the victim was going to purchase a phone from the suspects after using OfferUp, a marketplace app. The victim paid the suspects for the transaction but the suspects did not give up the phone and an argument between the victim and suspects occurred.

That's when a gun was taken out and the suspects shot at the victim but missed, according to authorities.

Three individuals were reportedly seen running away from the scene after the shooting. One of the suspects was described as a black male adult about 5-feet 6-inches tall wearing a blue sweatshirt and blue jeans with a black handgun.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the Los Angeles Police Department.

No further details were immediately known.
