Murder investigation underway after two men fatally shot in Long Beach

A murder investigation was underway Thursday after two men were shot and killed in Long Beach.

According to Long Beach Police, around 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the 5500 block of Atlantic Avenue regarding a person with a gun call, which resulted in the death of two male adults.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male with gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Despite first-responders attempts at performing life-saving measures, the man died at the scene. He was later identified as 32-year-old Kevin Williams of Lynwood.

During their investigation, detectives learned that a second victim with gunshot wounds to his upper torso was transported by a private vehicle to a hospital in the City of Gardena, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The second victim is only being identified as a 29-year-old male from Mississippi, pending family notification. The relationship between the two victims is still under investigation.

Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances and interviewing witnesses to learn how the victims sustained their injuries and a possible motive for the shootings. No arrests have been made and no suspect description was available at this time.
