Authorities searching for driver of SUV who left victim of fatal shooting at hospital in Gardena

Authorities Thursday were searching for the driver of an SUV who authorities said left a shooting victim at a hospital in Gardena, before taking off.

The wounded man died shortly after he was dropped off on Wednesday at Gardena Memorial Hospital, police said.

Officers were called about 5:10 p.m. to Memorial Hospital of Gardena in the 1100 block of West Redondo Beach Boulevard regarding a man with a gunshot wound who was not breathing, according to Gardena Police Department Lt. Christopher Cuff.

They learned the victim was dropped off by someone who drove away, Cuff said.

Detectives were working to identify the victim and determine where the shooting occurred.

They were looking for a blue Nissan Rouge SUV with North Carolina license plate FML-4184.

Anyone with information about the shooting, the victim or the suspect vehicle was urged to call Detective Karen Salas at 310-217-6180 or Detective Ryan Sproles at 310-217-9618.
