Man arrested after attempting to kidnap 2-year-old in Santa Clarita

(FOX 11) - A mother and her 2-year-old daughter were in a Santa Clarita shopping center, when police say around 11 o'clock Monday morning, when a man came up from behind and tried grabbing the little girl.

The mother noticed, and quickly swooped her up into her arms. The man fled the area.

The girl's mother called authorities.

Santa Clarita Sheriff Deputies found the suspect, Michael Starr, nearly a mile away...somewhere near his tan motor home on McBean and Valencia.

The mother identified the suspect. Starr was arrested for attempted kidnapping.

The sheriff's department said they looked through their entire database but didn't see any previous mention of Starr's name.
