Fox 11 News In Depth: National Night Out and Reading Real Books in a Digital World!

This was our 23rd show and it was all about community! Two topics included "National Night Out" and "Books, Book Stores and our Public Libraries in a digital world."

SEGMENT ONE: LA County Assistant Sheriff Bob Denham, Anaheim Deputy Chief Julian Harvey, Neighborhood Council President Corrine Ho and Fern Peskin-White with West Hills Crime Busters join Hal Eisner to talk about Tuesday's National Night Out and how over the 34 years of NNO cops and community have worked together this one day each year.

SEGMENT TWO: In this segment, we begin our conversation on books, bookstores and reading in a digital world. We take viewers to an eye-opener of an independent bookstore in Downtown LA.

SEGMENT THREE: To chat about and celebrate real paper vs digital books Hal is joined by David Kipen is the head of Libros Schmibros - a non-profit lending library in Boyle Heights. Susan Broman is the acting assistant librarian at the LA Public Library. B. Harlan Boll is a literary publicist. Author/actress Alison Arngrim started her career starring in Little House on the Prarie. Given her bad-girl character on the long running TV show, she has a new book called "Confessions of a Prarie Bitch".

SEGMENT FOUR: Final thoughts from our guests.

Our guests have resources you can check out. Fern Peskin-White's site is CrimeBusters of West Hills and Woodland Hills. Alison Arngrim's webpage is www.bonnetheads.com. And, if you want to know more about David Kipen's Boyle Height's lending library go to www.librosschmibros.org.
