Fire Weather: Red flag warning in effect for parts of Los Angeles, Ventura counties this weekend

A red flag warning is in effect this weekend for parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) winds will be the strongest Sunday morning in L.A. and Ventura counties with gusts between 35 to 50 mph. In Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo guests are expected to be between 20 to 35 mph.

The warning will be in effect from late Saturday night through Sunday evening for the mountains, Santa Clarita and San Fernando valleys.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly, meteorologists say. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Officials say to use extreme caution with potential fire ignition sources.
