Detectives seek help solving murder of neighborhood handyman found shot to death inside vehicle

Police Monday sought the public's help identifying at least one suspect responsible for killing a Moreno Valley father, who was found shot to death inside a vehicle in a Riverside neighborhood in September.

During the late hours of Sunday, September 1, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the driver’s seat of a minivan that was discovered at the end of a cul-de-sac on El Sol Way, in the Casa Blanca neighborhood of Riverside. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was later identified as William Calderon, a 37-year-old husband and father from Moreno Valley, Riverside Police said. Investigators said that Calderon was known as a neighborhood handyman and there are no indications he was a gang member.

"So far, there has not been any information developed leading to the identity of the suspect(s)," Riverside Police wrote in a Facebook post Monday.

Detectives were urging anyone with information about the murder to contact Detective Bryon Adcox at 951-353-7134 or jadcox@riversideca.gov, or Detective Brett Stennett at 951-353-7213 or bstennett@riversideca.gov.
