Massive protest erupts at Echo Park Lake as city plans to clear a large homeless encampment

A citywide tactical alert was issued Wednesday night as Los Angeles police in riot gear declared an unlawful assembly and order to disperse as hundreds of advocates for homeless gathered in Echo Park. Homeless activists are protesting plans by the city to clear a large homeless encampment from the park and close the area for what's being described as more than $500,000 in repairs.
