LONG BEACH, Calif. - On Monday Long Beach city leaders and family members of the late Latin singer Jenni Rivera held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new children's playground.
The playground is located near Long Beach City College inside Jenni Rivera Memorial Park.
The installation was funded though $250,000.00 from Measure A, $10,000.00 City of Long Beach and $6,500.00 private funds.
Her sister Rosa Rivera says her late sister would be humbled by the dedication.
"She would probably be surprised that the city loved her this much and we are really happy we can give back."
On December 9, 2012 Rivera died in a tragic plane crash after a concert in Mexico.
City officials hope to have the children's playground construction complete in 60 days.
