Man dies in apparent construction-related accident at LAX

A man died Saturday his morning during an apparent construction-related accident at the Los Angeles International Airport, a fire department spokesman said.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the intersection of East Way and Center Way, just east of the Theme Building around 6 a.m. for reports of an accident, Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Airport police officers and the fire department responded and attempted CPR on the individual, but officials say he was beyond medical help and passed away at the scene.

The cause of the accident is not known, but airport officials say equipment collapsed at a construction site.

"Los Angeles World Airports' thoughts and prayers are with the person's family, friends and fellow construction workers during this horrible tragedy," the airport tweeted.
