East Fire: Crews battling brusher in Angeles National Forest
Crews are working to contain a large fire just north of La Verne. The fire has stretched to about 75 acres.
GLENDORA, Calif. - Authorities say a brush fire in the hills above Glendora is burning out of control Friday, August 26 and has grown to nearly 100 acres.
It was first reported about 2:15 p.m. Thursday, August 25 and was burning along Glendora Mountain Road and East Fork Road within the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
Authorities mapped the East Fire at between 15 and 20 acres by about 2:30 p.m. Firefighters from Cal Fire, the U.S. Forest Service and Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched to the Angeles National Forest to douse the flames.
On September 6, nearly two weeks after the fire broke out, crews were able to contain 100% of the fire. The fire at one point stretched to 150 acres, according to the incident report.
