Big rig carrying thousands of chickens overturns in Chino Hills

CHINO HILLS, Calif. - A big rig carrying thousands of live chickens flipped onto its side while exiting the 71 Freeway in Chino Hills Friday morning. 

The big rig overturned shortly after exiting the 71 freeway at Grand Ave. The off-ramp and all eastbound lanes of Grand Ave. were closed, according to CHP. 

Cleaning up the scene involved people catching bunch of chickens; over 5,800 chickens were being transported… about half didn’t survive the crash. 

The driver was not injured.
