4 injured in brawl at Covina Hills cemetery

A melee broke out Saturday at the Forest Lawn cemetery in the unincorporated Covina Hills, sending four men to hospitals and multiple suspects running away.

The possibly gang-related violence was reported at 5:50 p.m. at the cemetery at 21300 Via Verde St., according to Sgt. J. Creader at the Walnut Sheriff's Station.

Four men in their 20s were injured, Creader said. One was beaten, two were stabbed and a fourth victim had either also been stabbed or had been shot and was undergoing surgery.

One victim was reported bleeding from the chest after the fight, Creader said. He did not know whether he is the victim in surgery.

One of the stabbing victims was found in a vehicle at Holt Avenue and Via Verde Street, he said.

The man who was beaten was treated and released, while the other three victims were taken to hospitals, Creader said.

There were multiple suspects, but Creader said no further information about them was immediately available.
