14-year-old girl fatally shot at family party in San Bernardino, another girl wounded

A 14-year-old girl was shot and killed at a family party over the weekend in San Bernardino, and another underage victim was wounded, police said Tuesday.

Elizabeth Martinez, 14, of San Bernardino, was at a family gathering at a home in the 1600 block of West Porter Street when a shooting took place ust before 11 p.m. Saturday, the San Bernardino Police Department said in a news release.

When officers arrived, they found Martinez suffering from gunshot wounds near the residence. She was transported to an area hospital and died a short time later.

A second underage victim, whose identity was not released, was also shot at the party but is recovering in stable condition, police said.

No arrests have been made.

Police said the shooting was being investigated as a homicide and the motive remains under investigation.
