Trump vs. Congress: The war powers showdown begins
Congress split over war powers resolutions designed to force President Donald Trump to end the expanding, deadly conflict with Iran, which has driven oil prices past $100 a barrel. While the House narrowly approved a concurrent resolution (214–208) to pressure the administration to abandon the war, the Senate voted down a joint War Powers Act resolution (47–49), blocking the legislative effort to halt military hostilities.
