New book on female inmates fighting fires on the front lines
They are women who are serving time for various reasons, and they're also women who may save your home or even your life. Author Jaime Lowe talks about an inmate firefighting program where women risk their lives for less than five bucks a day, plus a dollar an hour when they are actually on the fire line. The book is called Breathing Fire: Female Inmate Firefighters on the Front Lines of California’s Wildfires.
