Retired VCFD Battalion Chief sets out on 3,000 mile bike ride from Santa Monica to New York
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11, a group of firefighters and retired firefighters are about to take a three thousand mile journey across the country-on bikes! Their epic road trip will begin at Santa Monica pier, and end 40 days later at ground zero in New York. Along the way, they also hope to raise awareness of firefighting related illnesses including cancer, mental health, and severely wounded veterans. Steve Winter, a retired Battalion Chief with Ventura County Fire Department, is participating in the ride.
