We didn?t just hear about George Floyd?s death until after the fact, but it was a murder we all witnessed because it was recorded on cell phone video, and swiftly circulated on social media. That video ended up as key evidence at the trial of former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin. There is no doubt that it helped lead to his conviction. One year after his death, Dr. Allissa Richardson, a professor at USC?s Annenberg School of Journalism, discussed the role of video in protests and prosecutions.
