Sewage Surveillance

When you think of sewage, your first reaction might be "gross!" But the waste you flush down your toilet can actually provide an early warning of Covid-19's spread in a community. It's called wastewater surveillance and it has become an invaluable tool for health officials across the country and here in LA. We talked with Dr. Naoko Munakata with the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts about why this "dirty work" is so important.
