The California Post makes big debut

Get ready, California! The California Post is here.

Get ready, California! The California Post has officially launched.

What we know:

The California Post boldly states, "a new era of common sense and accountability arrives in California on January 26."

In its first edition, the sports cover is about the collapse of the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC championship game, with another cover taking a deep dive into the split of Joshua and Benjamin Safdie, known collectively as the Safdie brothers.

The California Post plans to focus on stories that directly affect lives right here in the Golden State with holding most of the some of most powerful institutions accountable. The paper's editors promise that this California edition will entertain and have the same DNA of their sister publication, The New York Post. It will be available daily in digital and print form.

"We’ve assembled a crack team of reporters at our new newsroom on the Fox Lot in Century City and their mission is to tell the stories others won’t or can’t," stated Nick Papps, California Post editor-in-chief. "And vitally, to bring a common-sense approach to the issues we cover and how we cover them."

What they're saying:

Hot off the press and amid the excitement, Papps joined Good Day LA to share what they’ve been working on and what’s ahead.

"It’s a really exciting day, I’ve got to tell you. We’ve had a busy morning and a late night last night as we got the first edition to bed, which was terrific. And seeing it come off the presses was really amazing."

Learn more about the California Post

The California Post is here! The sister publication to the New York Post made its debut on Jan. 26.

"What I’m really excited about is the fact we’ve got reporters from all the way from Sacramento down to San Diego. They’ll be telling the stories that other people aren’t telling. They’ll tell the stories about what’s happening in your backyard but also telling the stories of what’s actually happening up in Sacramento," Papps explained.

He added the upcoming gubernatorial race, the Summer Olympics, back-to-back Super Bowl games, and the World Cup were some of the major events they’ll be focusing on. "Our timing was pretty good," he said.

" The New York Post has been famous for having a bit of fun along the way, but at its very core, informing people about what's going on," Papps addedd.
