Sheriff’s deputies investigating two unrelated deputy-involved shootings in Victorville

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two unrelated deputy-involved shootings in Victorville.

The sheriff’s office says the first shooting happened on the 13000 block of Cabazon Ct. and the second happened on the 15800 block of Heatherdale Rd.

According to the Sheriff’s Department in the first shooting incident, a female deputy got into an altercation with a suspect shortly after she arrived on scene. The sheriff’s office says the suspect, Ari Young, assaulted Deputy Meagan Forsberg by repeatedly punching her in the head and face. During the altercation Deputy Forsberg fell to the ground and Young grabbed her gun and fired a shot at her.
Several other deputies arrived on scene and ordered Young to stand-down, when he refused a deputy fired at him.

Young was struck and taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Deputy Forsberg was not struck by gunfire, but was taken to a hospital with injuries sustained from the altercation.

A Twitter user captured the incident and posted it to social media.

For the second shooting, deputies responded to the 15800 block of Heatherdale Rd. after receiving reports of a possible suicidal man who overdosed.

In a press release the sheriff’s office says the reporting party told officials a man took multiple prescription pills and was armed with a knife.

When deputies arrived on scene they found the male suspect and the female caller inside a room in the house. The sheriff’s office says their deputies gave commands to the suspect to drop his knife but he refused. The suspect then came closer to deputies and they quickly deployed a Taser, which was ineffective.

The suspect came closer to the deputies and the sheriff’s office says that’s when a deputy-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect was struck and taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Both shootings are under investigation.
