Security guard fights back, shoots alleged ATM robber in Moreno Valley, authorities say

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. - A security guard shot a suspect who was allegedly attempting to rob an ATM in Moreno Valley on Friday, authorities said.

Riverside County deputies responded to the ATM, located near the corner of Ironwood Avenue and Heacock Street around 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Authorities told FOX 11 that the suspect attempted to attack the security guard and rob the ATM, but the security guard fought back. The suspect was shot by the security guard, investigators said.

The unidentified suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment in an unknown condition.

Sheriff's officials asked residents to avoid the area as they continued the investigation.
