CARSON, Calif. - A woman who was struck and fatally injured by an SUV while walking across an onramp to the eastbound 91 Freeway in the Carson area was about five months pregnant, authorities said Tuesday.
The woman, whose name was not immediately released, died at a hospital on Monday night, the California Highway Patrol reported.
She was struck at about 9:30 p.m. on the Albertoni Street onramp.
It was unclear why she was crossing the ramp on foot.
The 61-year-old Santa Ana man who was driving the 2014 Nissan Murano that hit her remained at the scene and was not arrested, the CHP reported.
Additional details were not immediately known.
