Bicyclist injured in head-on hit-and-run collision in Silver Lake
SILVER LAKE, Calif. - Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down a motorist who drove head-on into a bicyclist in Silver Lake and dragged him several feet before speeding away from the scene.
The crash, which left the bicyclist with severe injuries, happened around 11:45 p.m. Friday in the 3000 block of Berkeley Avenue, according to Los Angeles Police Officer Mike Lopez of the Media Relations Division.
The rider was hospitalized in stable condition, Lopez said. The collision was captured on surveillance video. The car was described by police as possibly an early-model red Mini Cooper with a white roof. The car's front end, hood and windshield were likely
damaged in the crash.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the owner of the Mini Cooper has been identified as an LAUSD employee. The person’s name is currently not known and no arrest have been made.
