Ontario police detective dies after crashing into tree
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The Ontario Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their own.
Detective Joshua Burks died when he lost control of his SUV and collided into a tree.
The accident happened Saturday morning on University Parkway near Kendall Drive in San Bernardino.
Burks was the only one in the vehicle at the time of the crash and was off-duty.
Emergency crews on the scene had to extricate Burks out of the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he later died. The crash is still under investigation.
