Metropolitan Fashion Week to takeover City Hall

Fashion takes center stage at city hall in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday. It's the Metropolitan Fashion Week Closing Gala and Fashion Awards.

Marika Soderlund-Robison, of Kicka Custom Design is one of the designers working to put L.A. fashion on the map. She is known for couture dress designs and fantastic head peices. She designs for singers, models, and dancers and is designing for the opening act. It's a dance number featuring Emmy nominated choreographer Dmitry Chaplin of Dancing With The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance.

The kick off for Metropolitan Fashion Week was in late September at the Original Farmers Market at The Grove. Founder Eduardo Khawam is helping up and coming designers take the stage with a design competition. It was a Greek themed evening and included everything from gowns to costumes. The "judges" winner is a masters degree student at Cal State Northridge, Mahsa Azidhak.

The Metropolitan Fashion Week Closing Gala and Fashion Awards is Saturday October 5th. Fox 11's Christine Devine is co-hosting with Khawam.
